Triangulation or Crystallization

Ellingson (2009) suggests crystallization as an alternative metaphor or framework for evaluating quality and rigor in qualitative research. She recognises that this is a term not commonly used outside of ethnography but maintains there is a growing recognition of it as an alternative to the practice of triangulation.
