Bourdieu’s philosophical and methodological approach was developed as an alternative to the positivist approach to social research of his time by adding a constructivist perspective, as he believed that “knowledge without a knowing subject would be anathema” (Bourdieu, 1979, p.252).

I am not sure I agree with his mixed paradigm as I struggle to see how I as a qualitative researcher from an interpretivist, co-constructive perspective can accept any form of objectiv understanding of social reality.

Bourdieu is a challenging philosopher to understand. His concept of "capital" is of however particular interest to me and how it may impact the relationships and the research process.
