Keynote 4, Alison Gopnik, USA

EECERA Dublin

What the science of childhood can tell us:

  • we invest in relationships but we don't measure them as we do children

  • children are dependent for a very long time, twice as long as many other primates

  • humans have a long exploration period, and then put what they have learned into practice later, to accomplish extraordinary things

  • evolutionary, the childhood period made us human, especially early childhood

  • we are the species designed for change

"We don’t have to make children learn we just have to let them learn"
