Visit with Professor Lundy at QUB

While being in Belfast for personal reasons I took the opportunity to visit with Professor Lundy at QUB.

I had a very informative meeting with Laura and one of her PhD students. The main points I took away was the confirmation about the importance and clarification of Article 5, most interesting to my research and the importance of Article 13 and how under researched it is.

Laura recommended reading Karl Hanson and sent me an article (to be published soon) that she has co-written with him, questioning the General Principles of the UNCRC. Very interesting!

We also talked about silence in the context of ‘child voice’ that goes with my own line of thinking about Article 12 and 13 and the very young pre- or early verbal child who may not be communicating with words yet. I thought I may bring an article by Ann Lewis, on this topic to the “Walk the Talk” evening next month:
