This year’s theme encourages contributions that broadly explore the relationship between ideas and action - or principles and practice - in the field of education. Education is a discipline tasked with understanding and refining the practice and practical application of educative processes; and Education is also, at the same time, a field that grapples with profound questions about knowledge, learning, culture and society. Too often, principles and practice are crudely separated into separate domains, to the detriment of both. This online conference will serve as a critical debate about educational philosophy and theory embedded in educative practices. Focusing on ‘principles’ rather than theory, we hope, offers a broader scope for discussion, including the ethics and political economy of working on and in education, in a moment of significant social and political change.
